DISRESPECTING YOUR PARENTS
Scripture says to obey and respect one's parents. But sometimes this is hard.
I'm the type of person, that someone whats me to do something and I don't understand the WHY of their request, I simply won't do it. This was a huge struggle for me growing up because "Because I Said So" just didn't fly for me. I haaaaated it. I wanted my parents to see me as an equal person with thoughts and opinions, and not as a seemingly dumb child to be bossed around.
And even if I was given a WHY, if I didn't agree with the WHY, my instinct would be to fight it. Why should I be forced to do something I don't agree with? It's my life, isn't it? Up into my early years of college I had this attitude not only with my parents, but with other authority figures in my life.
I would definitely say I've gotten a lot better with authority figures over the past few years. I still question things a lot, but my attitude is much better - more just conversational questioning rather than argumentative.
