YOUR VIEWS ON MAINSTREAM MUSIC
Depends on what you consider mainstream.
Top 40 - catchy melodies, smutty lyrics, way over produced to make not talented people sound talented, full of egotistical self obsessed people...and adam levigne.
Country - I generally hate country music as a genre. there are a few miscellaneous artists/songs I like when they showcase legitimate talent and are not twangy, but am just overall not a fan of the message it promotes (drinking, trucks, guns, line dancing, etc.)
R&B - see Top 40
Indie - generally filled with not talented people faking their way through the music industry and gaining followers because being "different" is currently the popular thing to be. if you consider "different" being straight up "weird" and "painful to listen to" then okay.
CCM - heavily biased toward male artists that all tend to sound the same. historically CCM has great songwriting, and I'm confident there are lots of good songs out there, but for some reason the radio plays all the watered-down songs with minimal lyrical content. overall a disappointment.
This may seem a bit harsh and critical and may even cause some readers to get defensive of their preferred genre, however, these are my opinions. Of course there are exceptions to every statement, but I will not bore you with those details here. I'll just say, I know what I like, I know what I think. take it or leave it.
