catching up

i like being busy. i like doing things. i'm also a big procrastinator. so when i get busy, it's easy to let certain things fall by the wayside. surely no one else has this problem :)

i've probably said this before, but ever since i moved back home a year and a half ago, i've never fully "moved in". a lot of my brother's things are still in the bedroom closets and a lot of my stuff is sitting in the storage room in boxes. so this week (and next) i have a few days with a few open hours and (with inspiration from TravelBuddy) i have decided to MOVE IN. i am here. this is where God wants me right now. i'm confident that as soon as i actually move in He will no doubt pick me up and move me to a new dwelling. however, i think this is a good step in the direction of being here and being now. being fully connected and invested with the present.

SO.

i thought i would just start by moving all of my brother's stuff into storage. however, there were no available storage containers. so i decided this would be a great opportunity to sort through my boxed belongings and try to condense some containers and make room for his things. mind you, this is stuff that was boxed up before i went to liberty, and then some stuff that came back from liberty. oy.

i found some fun things that caused me brief distraction:
- binder full of all the cards and letters from my 16th surprise bday party (including one from daddy!)
- old photos of my friends and i in approximately 9th grade - eek!
- a Relient K cd that essentially defined my generation (i knew all the words to all the songs and felt SO cool because this was a cool band and not the pensive lyrical piano/vocals stuff i usually listened to that no one had ever heard of)
- lyrics to some of the first songs i wrote
- a slew of American Idol/Clay Aiken memorabilia (hangs head in shame!)

it was interesting to say the least. today i made the mess...tomorrow i'll clean it up :) then i'll put my brother's stuff in storage.

and THEN...i'm going to clean the bedroom (thoroughly - tho i feel like i just cleaned it...drives me nuts that these rooms keep getting dirty lol!) and (gasp!) hang some stuff on the walls!!!

i am also going to make sure i get my car serviced.

//i think we're going somewhere/we're on to something good here//

Whoo-hooo!!!! You go!!

Engaging and investing are important practices. Spiritually weighty.

And having a clean, organized room is just super, super nice!

Not sure where I got my motivation from (maybe you) but I finally unpacked two boxes that have been sitting in corners of my dining room for several months, from when we rearranged our family room last September. They were full of things I had to sort through, think about, decide what to do with, and where to put if keeping. Not easy. So I just procrastinated. Now my D.R. looks more ready for Easter dinner, and my mind is slightly less cluttered.

Yay for clean!
