we are in what i like to call recital season.
well, actually now until the end of the semester could probably pass for recital season.
there are several worship recitals where vocal students sing worship and contemporary christian music. as an accompanist, i am present at the majority of these recitals. it's really interesting to see all sorts of people in the worship department sing. there are some exceptionally talented people and then there are some where you wonder if this is really God's call for them...
during recital season, i spend most of my free time attending voice student's lessons and practicing with them.
and i spend the rest of my time preparing for my own recitals...
junior recital is an actual class. you do a worship set with a group and you do a 30 minute individual recital. for each part you have a hearing which basically proves to the department that you're prepared for the recital...and if you fail the hearing, you can't do the recital and you fail the class. so yeah. like i said...preparation.
the cool thing with that tho is that when it's all completed it feels like a real accomplishment - not just something you threw together with your quick thinking and skills, but something that you can take a little pride in and see how you've grown and progressed as a musician.
side note: if anyone hears of any potential job opportunities in SE michigan could they pass them my way? a music job would be amazing but i'm not counting on it...even as simple as passing my name along for house-sitting or if there's some sort of job that could possibly work out without the employer actually meeting me beforehand...yeah. i would be much appreciative :)

did you call back on that office job?
thanks for the update, and for explaining recital season. i think i need a book "LU WORSHIP MINISTRIES for dummy parents" to keep up with all your classes and requirements.
Thanks for the explanation! Quite the deal. I know better how to pray now. Sorry I don't know of any jobs in SE MI. We're looking too! :-)
yeah i called on the office job 3 times and finally got to talk to someone today.
they said they'd email me an application, but they think they're looking for someone more permanent...
