here's a step by step run down of how to do it:
1. Purchase supplies:
I chose an array of decorative knobs and kitchen/bath hardware from Hobby Lobby (very inexpensive as the whole store is often 50% off). I also chose some scrapbook paper and ribbon and a bulletin board from Michaels and borrowed Mod Podge (glue) from TravelBuddy.
Step 2: Make the board:
I cut the paper to cover the board and then Mod Podge-d it down. This was a little tedious because the paper tended to wrinkle up when it got wet, but I ended up placing heavy books on it when the glue was almost dry and that flattened it out nicely.
Then cut and placed the ribbon on the boarder and Mod Podge-d it in place.

Step 3: Attach the Hardware
The proved a daunting task, but with a little help from some friends, we figured it out and made it work! the backs of some of the hardware had to be sawed off with a hacksaw so they would lie flesh with the back of the board. Wed then poked holes in the cardboard with a hammer/nail and screwed the hardware in place.
Step 4: Color the Screws
Some of the hardware did not come with screws so I had to purchase some (these were very inexpensive at ACE Hardware). Unfortunately, they only had silver screws so I colored over the screw heads with gold/black permanent marker in order to make them blend in a little better.
Step 5: Hang and Decorate!!!
I hung the board on my wall as I would a regular picture frame. I made sure to use 2 good size nails on both sides because the hardware made the board a bit heavy. Then - hang the jewelry! Easy as that!
