i think i've figured out why i hate writing thank you notes.
it's not that i'm not thankful. it's not that i don't see the importance of saying thank you. it's not that i'm just lazy.
i personally do not appreciate receiving thank you notes.
if i give someone a gift for their wedding or make a donation to some cause or do something that would traditionally merit a thank you note, i do not really get anything out of receiving a pretty little card in the mail with a quick little message of thanks in it. an email would have sufficed. or a text. or sometimes even just a comment in person. i see the card and the stamp as a waste of time and money.
but not everyone thinks that way.
maybe it's a generational thing.
regardless, i understand that many people find it rude if they do not receive a thank you note after they give a gift or make a donation or whatever. they interpret the gesture as sincerity in the message of thanks.
and i respect that.
therefore, all of my kickstarter contributors are receiving thank you notes.
all fifty one of them.
that is how much i love them :)
*add this to the list of reasons not to have a ginormous wedding ;)
