It's so close I can almost taste it!
When I heard about the National Worship Leader Conference a few years ago, I immediately knew I wanted to attend one day. I have been to a few worship arts conferences in the past, but the one we used to attend in Chicago is not happening anymore. Plus so much has changed in the past few years. I am in much more of a leadership position than ever and am in a different place with my team. Plus I have had a couple years since finishing college and have had plenty of time to apply what I learned there. I am always hungering to learn and grow more.
I have a few specific goals for this conference:
1. Spiritual growth - it is so easy to fall into a spiritual routine in church ministry when you literally live week to week. plus there have been several things happening with my team lately that have been discouraging and frustrating to me. additionally, it can be difficult for a church service to minister to the person who has planned and is leading it (not impossible, but difficult) in the same way it would minister to the average attendee :)
2. Creative growth - I have never been a big idea/visionary person, but thrive on taking the creativity and ideas of others and making them a reality. The circumstances of my position have imposed a lot of limits on my vision for the creativity of the ministry. I am hoping to discover ways to break out of "survival mode" (doing only what is absolutely necessary) and do more with what I've been given.
3. Community growth - Long car rides and hotel time is a great opportunity to grow in friendship with one's team. I am also hoping for good, transparent discussion among my team of what we are learning.
Looking forward to a great week! Hopefully I will recap :) I head out on vacation next week so it might be a while :)
