Look at me updating like I said I would!!
NWLC was fantastic! What a great time of refreshment and creative thought! A few highlights:
1. Vocal Coaching class - the instructors (a husband-wife team) walked us through a vocal coaching session with an actual vocalist from their church. vocal coaching is different than a voice lesson, partly because it assumes the vocalist is already a gifted singer. instead of teaching someone how to sing, coaching helps the singer move from pretty good to wow! we discussed some technique (which was a good review for me!) and channeling emotions and story-telling. i am very excited to implement these theories personally and with some of the vocalists at cbc.
2. Buddy Owens - a short bio here, Buddy was the MC of sorts in between bands at the evening worship sessions. While the stage crew was resetting between groups, Buddy would give some extended verbal transitions. Everything this man said was anointed - it provoked thought and wonder and moved me to worship every single time. I also had the chance to attend his class "Creating a Culture of Worship" which was also just as wonderful.
3. Kansas BBQ - our team had the opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine at a barbecue restaurant. It was definitely yummy!
4. Dreaming - great intake of information often leads to great brainstorming of implementation ideas. my team and i were together during general sessions every morning that taught about worshiping in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24). This led to great discussion on matters of theology and spirituality depending on if we agreed or disagreed with the particular speaker. During the breakout workshops, we split up and attended classes according to our own interests - sometimes individually or sometimes with a buddy. During the evenings we would have long discussions about what we had learned and ideas that had been shared. This led to vision casting and brainstorming on how to implement these ideas.
Well, it's now time to hit pause on all those new ideas and get geared up for my next adventure. I am very much looking forward to seeing my dear TravelBuddy and trekking across the country with her!
