musings

today i went to HobbyLobby with the other members of girlworld and picked up a nice five-hook apparatus for my wall with which to hang coats/hoodies. my current coats/hoodies setup is to hang them on the doorknobs. I hang lots of things on doorknobs. currently every doorknob in my room is occupied :/ in the interest of full disclosure, i'd like to point out that i did attempt to hang the hook thing myself and was unsuccessful. i was, however, successful in gouging several holes in the wall. after thinking through it again, i have a plan b in mind that i will try later this week.

i think I'm going to ask for new bedding for christmas, since i am using my brother's old sheets which are boringbrown and my old periwinkle comforter from my high school bedroom that has makeup stains all over it from that one time annabug got creative. i think i will ask for new pillows too as mine are very very old. just another step in making permanent a space that was never intended to be so :)

i also need to clean out my closet. i try now to clean out my closet twice a year and switch out the winter/summer clothes. at that time i also get rid of anything i didn't wear during the last season. currently the bag of castoffs from last winter are still in my trunk on their way to salvation army. i keep forgetting! and now i might as well wait and add some more :/

today i also t.h.o.r.o.u.g.h.l.y cleaned my bathroom. i really really am terrible when it comes to cleaning. not sure what it is. the grime doesn't bother me? laziness? not sure. but this was a very needed clean and i think it will be a nice welcome home to my bathroom buddy when he returns from his weekend away.

two weekends from now i am playing music for a wedding for some people i've never met (relatives of some old family friends). i'm observing that this is a very conservative "churchy" family with a fairly large budget. because they are super conservative, the wedding is taking place at a small church and there will be no dancing at the reception. because of the large budget, they are paying me fairly well to drive a good distance to play/sing for them. they've also invited me to the reception. i will probably attend only because i'm very interested to see what it will be like :)

last month i was approached by the record label that runs out of LU about writing some piano music for them. they deal primarily with choral and praise team music and needed some piano parts written in worship team style for some christmas songs they are releasing this fall. this is a super easy job for me because i simply play the song as i would play with a worship team, and then notate what i play. what's really great is that the paycheck from those charts and the paycheck from the wedding in a few weeks will be almost enough to pay for the new tires my car desperately needs! thanks God for that provision!
