survived my first week!
it's been a crazy couple days to say the least. it's finally started to cool down with temps settling around the high 90s for most of the week. we had a pool party on sunday and it was easily 110. by the end of the afternoon i was feeling like i'd just been terribly burnt, but i hadn't cuz i'd lathered the sunscrean. i'd also been drinking water like crazy. i had chills and a headache and ended up crashing when i got home. made it through work the next day, but developed a high fever that evening. thankfully my nurse friend gave me a few tips to bring the fever down and i was able to work the next day. thank you Jesus!!!
VBS this week. it's been fun helping lead the singing with Mark and Scott. the stage at Crossroads is huge and the sound system is great so it's a lot different than many experiences i've had. the songs are not really "traditional" VBS songs, but more upbeat fun contemporary worship songs. The main sessions of the VBS at Crossroads are much more video/technology driven than other VBS's i've seen. hardly anything is live. but i've also heard that Crossroads has a really hard time recruiting volunteers. regardless, it's done very well and they have had a good turnout. even though the worship is really the only aspect of the event i've observed, it's been cool to experience it from a little different perspective.
high school camp begins monday. we'll drive 8 hours into new mexico and stay until saturday. should be a good time.
took the kids to the drive-in after church last night. on the way there scott got a call that one of the junior high students had just been killed in a dirt-bike accident. what's even harder is that this boy's mom and brother just lost their husband/dad to cancer almost exactly a year ago. everyone is pretty shaken up. if you think to, please pray for this family. the older brother just graduated from high school and i hear he's not taking things so well :/
don't know about anyone else but i thoroughly enjoyed the season finale of GLEE the other night. gah! i'm such a nerd but i so don't care. met a couple girls in the youth group who love the show and get together and watch it every week. they invited me and mark to join them to watch the finale and now that fox is airing the whole first season again all summer we're gonna meet and watch those as well :)
pics are coming soon. realized i forgot my camera cord at home so i gotta wait for it to be mailed. oops!

Man, what a tough thing for this family. I cannot imagine the grief.
I'm glad you are feeling better and learning how to handle the heat!
Praying for you every day.
Hey you big Gleek,
Drink gallons of water and carry a spritz bottle with water. Cooling off your face and neck helps. Wear a hat! Hang in there...
Your fellow Gleek
